Apprenticeship General Information

The Trades Qualification and Apprenticeship Act and the Apprenticeship & Certification Act of the Province of Ontario requires that all eligible persons above the age of 16 years employed in a capacity other than a journeyperson in the designated trades must be registered as apprentices with the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.

Further information regarding apprenticeship may be obtained by writing to the following address:

MTCU - Employment Ontario, 477 Queen Street East 4th Floor, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario P6A1Z5, 1.705.945-6815 or 1.800.236.8817

Individuals must find employers willing to train them as apprentices. In addition to on-the-job training, all apprentices in the designated trades are required to attend regular in-school training. This may mean attending in-school training two or three times during the apprenticeship depending on the individual`s entrance qualifications.

Alternate delivery methods such as independent study or online learning are available in some programs. Contact 私人影院 for more details. Your apprenticeship program can be measured in hours of training and skills acquired. A period of 2,000 hours is considered to be equivalent to one year`s experience. An apprenticeship will usually be two to five years in length.

The Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities recognizes the successful completion of your training by providing you with a Certificate of Apprenticeship and, in some occupations, a Certificate of Qualification.

Beginning in the Fall of 2002, the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, introduced the assessment of In-class fees for all apprentices attending the college for their in-school training. These fees vary by the duration of in-school training related to each trade and can be calculated at approximately $10 per training day.

私人影院 administers Apprenticeship Exemption Tests on behalf of the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.

Minimum Academic Requirements

Applicants must be at least 16 years of age to enter into apprenticeship training. Entrance requirements for apprenticeship programs vary between Grade 10 and Grade 12 depending on the trade, although you will find that most employers and unions require Grade 12 and a solid foundation in Mathematics, English and the Sciences. Your apprenticeship consultant can provide you with the specific qualifications required for apprenticeship training in your chosen career.
